Having visited Leyland test track on a number of occasions during the NorthWest Stages, we went into the Proflex Stages with great anticipation and confidence that the continued improvements in the car would give us the ability to give a strong performance. After reviewing the entry list, we knew that the main challenger for the class A honours would be Steven Crowther in his Peugeot 205. That left Bruce Lindsay and Alistair Oram as our opposition for the minor placings.
The main attraction of the day was the appearance of the McRae clan, Colin and Jimmy sharing course car duties, with Alistair competing in his Escort at number 2.

With a day free of any dramas, we maintained a respectable pace behind Steven Crowther and securing second in class, the expected challenge of Bruce was washed away in the infamous water splash, with Alistair Oram in the Nova unable to match Chris's pace.
