Procare Stages 2005

The Procare Stages was organised by Wigan Motor Club and held at the Three Sisters Race Circuit and we went into the event with high hopes having had promising performances at the venue in the past.

After arriving, we proceeded to scrutineering and bumped into Brian Whiting who told us he had found himself without a co-driver, as the person he thought had agreed to sit with him, had double booked and was unavailable. After some discussion and various phone calls to source a spare helmet and racesuit, Dave took on the job and left us to finish preparing the Swift ourselves. Due to this confusion, an update on the state of the car wasn't passed over and we lined for Stage 1, unaware that the rear wheel nuts hadn't been tightened. Needless to say it took just over a lap to shed the nearside wheel. After catching the wheel and refitting it we completed the stage, but had to take a stage maximum dropping us to last position.

With the stages being so short, the time we had lost was disasterous and effectively ended our chances of a good result. Credit to Chris who got the bit between his teeth and set four fastest times in our class, and being second on all the other stages. This performance hauled us to 32nd overall and 4th in class, the best we could have hoped for after the dramas of the first stage.
